back.

about me and my stuff:

i am a 17 year old breakcore/mashcore/noise producer from sheffield, uk.
i started making music around the age of 10-11 using programs like bandlab and audacity, where i made ambient and noise until i downloaded my first amen break pack out of pure boredom.
throughout my career in music, i have met some amazing friends. mainly my main man, nitroii, check out his shit here, it's fuckin wicked! nitroii and i formed the duo ocularist where we released 4 albums and are currently working on a 4 track ep which we are hoping to put on very limited 7 inch vinyl.
i have also worked and affiliated with some other awesome people and labels such as noizyazzholez, AM3NAC3, namniv, dougLock, sam fauchon, shimoda, dronestrobe records, magmasphere, wikimedia commons, emcd (now defunct) i could go on forever! its a shame that the mainstream breakcore community has been shaped into what it is today, because in reality it is a really cool community with alot of really cool creators.

the story for bypass starts way before the age of 13. at around 7 years old i had my first introduction into the absract side of music and media, when i stumbled upon a video on youtube called rubber johnny, from there and then on i had a facination for everything weird and wacky, anything that breaks all boundaries and standards, anything that lacked normalilty.
by 10 i was messing around on things such as bandlab, audacity and garage band, making random silly tracks or just straight up noise.
it wasnt until late 2020 when i first met my fucking partner in crime nitroii, we hit it off straight away and made our first album under the name ocularist called "manifest the biennale". we didnt end up releasing it because it was terrible and we left it for dead.
eventually we finally pulled through with our official debut. we were very original and called it "untitled". the album didnt gain that much popularity to begin with, a few cds of it sold but it didnt sell out. we realised we need to push ourselves further.
at around mid 2022 i was given the invitation to be on a url concert, which as the time was absolutely awesome. i immediately contacted nitroii and said we need to make a megamix for this thing, which we did. compared to our previous work, this thing blasted it out the park. and thus "woodgrange avenue/ruskin park megamix" was born. this 20 minute long megamix of relentless breakcore and jungle was our proudest work yet, "fuck untited" we thought.
around this time we began work on our biggest release "mashitup!". this release included tracks from the beginning of 2022 all the way up to mid 2023. continuous post-poning of the release meant our audience was slowly leaving us, but we decided a good thing needs time and doesnt need rushing. eventually in july 2023 we released this behemoth of an album on a 2xCD release, which wouldnt have been possible without the workmanship of our good friend caybee calabash over at dronestrobe records.

it was around this time that nitroii and i started up "south england hate club, an awesome netlabel and record label that releases breakcore, jungle and anything weird. since the beginning we have been very sucessful with it and have managed to grow a vibrant community of creators and made alot of friends along the way.

since then, we took an almost year hiatus as ocularist and we were focusing on our own projects. in february of 2023 i released my first solo album,"chords & chaos" which was a 21 track album of works from 2021 up to 2023, some of the work on there is my proudest work to date and id recommend you give it a listen if you like melodic work.
from there i decided i should spice things up with a new alias, and so did nitroii. we made up 2 silly dj names to make both dj mixes and crazy heavy music under. i was dj smoke alarm and he was dj fire exit. i released my first 2 tracks under dj smoke alarm in the "extra starka pepparmyntor" compilation album which was released on cd via welcome to clydebank. then came "the post pigeon attack facial reconstruction", then the "split" between me and nitroii as dj smoke alarm and dj fire exit then a few months after came "the gastric tear bomb redevelopment scheme", then last but not least my magnum opus "melolagnia".

currently, i am finishing up my first year in college doing a music tech course which has allowed me to do all these different performances and allowed me to learn all different skills and tips and tricks. me and nitroii are currently finishing up on a 7" ocularist ep to release some time in june. we have a split mix cd to release late may, south england hate club is ever-growing and the creators in it are continuing to blow our minds with their skill!
